Get Started with FileMaker Pro (Online) is an introduction to FileMaker Pro and creating custom database solutions. It covers everything from creating a new solution, setting up data structure, customising the appearance, securing and deploying your file and more. While the course will cover the latest features of FileMaker Pro, you may be using any recent version.
Enrolment Cost: AU$490 ex GST (consisting of 5 x 3-hour online sessions)
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This course is suitable for people with no experience with FileMaker Pro or with creating databases. However, if you are self taught, you will probably pick up a lot of tips and fill in the gaps in your knowledge. You should have a project in mind that you can start or progress after the course.
How does it run?
This course is online, presented using a webinar platform. Unlike a video recording or traditional webinar, sessions are designed to be interactive, allowing you to ask questions, take quizzes and to participate in discussions.
On enrolment, you will be emailed connection details for the sessions.
Each session is structured in a similar way:
- Questions from the last session
- Content presentation
- Demonstration of concepts and techniques
- Exercises for you to complete between sessions
- Questions – group discussion of content
What are the sessions?
There are five (5) sessions in the course, each three (3) hours and covering:
- The FileMaker Platform; Inside a Database; Building a Database
- Displaying Data with Layouts; About Layout Objects
- About Relationships
- Calculation and Summary Fields; Summary Reports

The sessions are scheduled on each day for one week 1pm–4pm AEST (see schedule below). Each session will be recorded and recordings will be available to attendees.
